Protective & rust-prevention coatings.
For structural steelwork in exposed, humid or salt-laden environments, protective coatings extend the life of the structure and underpin the fire protection applied over them. We deliver preparation and coating as part of an integrated steel protection package.
The case for protective coatings
Intumescent coatings applied to unprepared or corroded steel cannot perform correctly — and the intumescent char that forms in a fire needs a stable substrate to adhere to. Protective coatings are not just about longevity in service; they are a prerequisite for the fire protection to work. We treat them as part of the same scope.
In industrial, coastal or high-humidity environments, protective coatings also extend the maintenance interval of the structure itself and reduce whole-life cost significantly.
