When board protection is specified
Board systems are typically specified where:

Section factors make intumescent systems impractical or uneconomical

The steelwork is in a plant room, external soffit or exposed location

The programme demands immediate handover without cure times

The architect requires a planed, flush finish to beams and columns
Unlike intumescent coatings, board protection is not film-thickness dependent. Once the boards are correctly installed to manufacturer-certified details, the rating is inherent to the system. That makes inspection and sign-off straightforward.
